Choosing the Right Toothbrush

Are all toothbrushes equal?  How do you choose the right toothbrush?  What should you look for in toothbrush?

The main purpose of your toothbrush is to remove soft plaque.  A soft tooth brush is all you need.  A medium or hard toothbrush may cause abrasion, tooth sensitivity and gum recession.  Save that medium or hard toothbrush for scrubbing the bathroom!

Size of your toothbrush does matters.  Bigger is not better.  Your toothbrush should be able to fit in the back of your mouth along the gum line.  You should think of brushing one tooth at a time.  A small adult compact toothbrush is best.

Electric toothbrushes have some advantages over manual toothbrushes.  They can do a better job especially for those have limited dexterity.  They can also prevent excessive force on the teeth by stopping when too much force is applied.
