Did you know you could develop oral cancer by sexual transmission? Did you know that younger sexually active non-smoking adults are the fastest growing group to develop oral cancer? Have you talked to your teenagers about the risks? Inform yourself!

HPV is a virus that is a known cause of cervical cancer. The oral tissue is very similar to the tissue in the cervix and does not discriminate against a man or a woman. Oral cancer can be horribly disfiguring and if left undiagnosed… has a poor prognosis. Oral cancer is 3 times more common and twice as deadly as cervical cancer.

Risk factors traditionally for oral cancer are smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.  Now unprotected sex and multiple sexual partners are putting non-smokers at risk.

It can be difficulty swallowing, speaking, chewing or moving the jaw or tongue. It can even be a simple as feeling like something is always caught in your throat.
