New Teeth in One Day - All-on-Four Dental Implants - Rideau, Ottawa

For patients who have lost all their teeth, within a single arch, or who will have their remaining teeth removed from an arch in order to gain a full set of teeth via dental implant supported dentures, we have a number of long-term tooth replacement options. One of the most effective and permanent means of replacing missing teeth is with dental implants.

Dental implants are constructed of a titanium steel component, which is embedded into your jawbone to create a foundation for a missing tooth / missing teeth. Once your natural gum and bone tissues re-grow around the implant, they will fuse with the implant and keep it firmly in place. Implant-supported teeth look and act just like natural teeth. This means you’ll be able to smile, speak and eat a wider variety of foods. Dental implants support your natural facial structure and thus create a more youthful appearance for your face, altogether. Compared with dentures, dental implants provide superior stability and strength. And once they’re placed, they can last a lifetime, with proper care, of course.

All-on-Four Dental Implants, Teeth in a Day

Advancements in dentistry allow dental surgeons to place a minimum number of implants (four) to support a full arch (upper or lower) of replacement teeth. The amazing thing is that this can be achieved in less than 24 hours. The “All-on-Four” procedure is ideal for people who are tired of the strings that come attached with their dentures, or for those who are looking for a more permanent means of replacing missing teeth. One common complaint that denture wearers often make is due to dentures' lack of stability, which increases the chances of having their coming loose. The “All-on-Four” procedure effectively overcomes these complications, once and for all.

An additional benefit to the “All-on-Four” procedure is that is allows most patients to negate any need for bone grafting - a procedure that subtitues jawbone tissues, using bone tissues from another part of your skeletal system to support dental implants. Thus, it gives patients who may not qualify for dental implants a chance to permanently restore their smile again.

The Procedure Process

Following one or two visits to the Rideau Dental Centre’s office, an oral surgeon will perform a comprehensive exam to gather the appropriate information needed to create your treatment plan, with aim to replace an entire arch of teeth (either all of your lower or upper teeth). Your All-on-Four exam will consist of CAT scans, X-rays, impressions, etc. The surgerical procedure is then scheduled, which will see to it that your implants / new teeth are placed within 24 hours. Consisting of only four dental implants, surgery is much less invasive compared to traditional implant surgery, for replacing all of a person's missing teeth within a full arch. Once the implants are surgically affixed, abutments are attached to them, which will keep your future replacement teeth in place. Adjustments are then made to ensure maximum functionality, comfort and aesthetics.

Followup dental checkups will be necessary in order to make sure your gums are healing well and the implants are fusing to your bone tissues properly. Once gums are fully healed - after about 6 months - new impressions of your mouth will be made so that a custom set of dental crowns can be created and affixed to your abutment teeth.
