7 Things You Must Know Before Getting Invisalign

Teens and adults interested in straightening their teeth without the appearance of braces should consider Invisalign. However, there are some critical details you should be aware of before deciding to use Invisalign.

1. Stay mindful of what you eat

Consumption of foods will have to be carefully considered. Bear in mind that if you want a snack in the middle of the day, it may not be necessary to remove your aligners, eat, and then spend additional time brushing and flossing your teeth. Ideally, you'll want to consume enough calories throughout your main meals to avoid having to repeat this process too frequently!

2. You have to wear your aligners full-time

You are committing to a full-time schedule with Invisalign. Wearing your aligners consistently for a minimum of 20-22 hours per day, as recommended by your dentist, is critical for Invisalign to be effective. Take them out only to eat or brush their teeth.

When things get difficult, it's tempting to remove these aligners, and it's even easier to forget to replace them afterwards. If you are concerned about your desire to remove Invisalign orthodontics more frequently than recommended, you may want to consider other orthodontic procedures.

3. They are pretty comfortable

Invisalign aligners are widely regarded as being comfortable to wear. When trays are changed every two weeks, some pressure and pain may occur, although most patients report that this discomfort is mild.

4. You need to brush after every meal

Food particles will almost certainly become trapped at the back of your teeth beneath your aligners if you do not brush and floss after eating and simply replace your aligners. This acts as a barrier, allowing bacteria on your teeth to spread, potentially resulting in decay and bad breath. To avoid these issues, consider purchasing a portable toothbrush or keeping one on your desk at work.

5. Talking might be difficult at first

As is the case with many orthodontic appliances, speaking may initially be difficult. There may be some murmuring and lisping. This is normal and will pass as you become accustomed to your clear aligners.

6. Invisalign might not be the right move for you

Invisalign is frequently an excellent option for individuals with mild to moderate orthodontic issues. Depending on the severity of your misalignment, straightening your teeth with Invisalign may take an extremely long time. This means that you may benefit more from conventional braces.

7. Your clear aligners can stain

If you have Invisalign aligners, you may want to spend some of your morning two-hour window sipping on a cup of coffee. This is because certain substances have the potential to stain them.
