Did You Know That You Could Have a Computer-Generated Crown Done In One Visit?

What is a computer-generated crown?? Traditionally when a crown is done... the tooth is prepared and impressions are taken at the first visit.  These impressions are sent to the lab and typically 7-10 days later the crown is ready to be cemented into your mouth.
With a computer generated crown or cerec, it is usually done in one visit.  After the tooth is prepared, a digital impression is taken with a 3D camera. Computer software along with your dentist designs the crown to fit your mouth. Crowns, onlays and inlays can be made using different ceramic materials and is fabricated right in the office.  You can even watch it being made!  From there it is cemented directly into your mouth.
This new technology allows control over design that enables your dentist to conserve tooth structure.   Cerec technology also saves your valuable time. At the Rideau Dental Centre we try to make all technologies available to our patients. Please call us to make an appointment.
